Joing the UOTC
UOTC represents University Officer Training Corps. Here students who enrol themselves are provided the unique opportunity to challenge themselves. This is achieved through strenuous military exercise, adventure training, community projects and various military expeditions in the United Kingdom and abroad. Joining the UOTC does not compel its cadets to enrol into the British Armed Forces after their complete their stint here and they are free to resign from the OTC whenever they wish.
The UK has around 19 University Officer Training Corps or UOTC's through out the nation and all of these institutions are placed in strategic locations that cover very distinctive geographic areas. Each of the 19 UOTC's are independent regiments having their own insignia, stable belt, customs, traditions and cap badge. Cadets of the UOTC's are required to maintain a high level of fitness. Anyone is free to join the UOTC and no prior military experience is required. The number of years cadets normally sign up for is three years at UOTC but anyone is free to leave anytime they want. Joining the UOTC provides cadets an insight into military life and the training provided here is valuable.
The basic requirements for enrolling into the UOTC requires candidates to have completed their higher education, be a British Citizen, should be physically fit and be prepared to stay fit. The age for a candidate for joining the UOTC is anywhere between 18 years to 30 years and it is mandatory that they have at least two years on the in University course to complete. Cadets should be prepared for total commitment when joining the UOTC.
